Julie Byerlein and Local Denver Artists

I love Denver and I love art, so I particularly love local art. Denver is an amazing creative center with tremendously talented artists. There’s so much to discover and enjoy. On First Fridays, my friends and I head to one of the many arts districts for gallery openings. We thrive in finding compelling and beautiful art that is created here. Ask me for tips on where to find local art, and I am happy to share!

I had the idea of artistic donkeys as a way to celebrate the Democratic National Convention coming to town. I asked top local artists to create images of artistic donkeys and donkeys in Denver. I had no expectations for what I’d receive, and am delighted with the range of mediums, styles and scenes. It’s an amazing group of artwork and I’m honored and humbled by the talented local artists willing to participate.

My first goal in this endeavor is to showcase the wide variety and depth of artists working in Denver, and highlight the vibrant arts scene in town. In my small way I am helping build Denver’s creative identity and enhance their position as an arts destination. My second goal is to help raise funds for the DNC host committee, as they stage an amazing event which showcases the city.
