DENVER ARTISTS PUT THE KICK IN THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION
All button sales generate donations to the DNC Host Committee
When his opponents called him a jackass back in 1828, Andrew Jackson decided to use the name-calling to his advantage and make the donkey his mascot. Now, 180 years later, Denver artists are spotlighting on the animal by creating art showing the donkey experiencing Denver. These works have been transformed into limited edition buttons which are available now through the convention for $4 each. 10% of all sales will be donated to the DNC Host Committee.
Dems Do Denver (http://www.demsdodenver.com) celebrates both the Democratic National Convention coming to Denver and the work of well known local talent. Participating artists are all accomplished contributors to the Denver artistic community, and designed the buttons shown
below.

Bill Amundson - Acclaimed artist with work in the Denver Art Museum collection.

Sharon Brown – Captures human stories in her paintings. Often beginning with old snap shots or casual candid photos, Brown captures moments in time.

Matt Holman – A Natural for this convention theme, as his popular political cartoons can be seen in the Colorado government newspaper, Stateline.

Sharon Feder - Commissions include murals and paintings for dozens of private and public collectors.

Hadley Hooper – Hadley’s striking illustrations have appeared in numerous national publications.

Tracy Weil – Recipient of the Mayor's Design Award for 2006 for the category Home is Where the Art Is, representing extraordinary contributions to the residential environment.

Eric Zimmer - Celebrated artist and children’s book illustrator who is proud to have his work in the Denver Art Museum collection.
Artist Sharon Brown is thrilled to be a part of Dems Do Denver because "'Denver is such a great art city, vibrant with talented artists of all stripes, working in all media. We wanted to share this news with the rest of the country." Sharon Feder said "Dems Do Denver gives me an opportunity to shine some light on the tsunami of artistic energy in Denver."
Dems Do Denver is the brain child of local marketing entrepreneur Julie Byerlein. Julie has a passion for the arts and while the political spotlight is on Denver, she wants to showcase some of its wonderfully talented artists. What better way than to have conventioneers, visitors and
residents all show their enthusiasm for the convention, the city and local art by wearing these one-of-a-kind Democrat buttons. Julie says “Dems Do Denver is proud to help Denver shine as a host city and that’s why I will donate 10% of all button sales to the Denver National Convention Host Committee.”
Dems Do Denver is an approved vendor for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Buttons are available for sale at www.demsdodenver.com and various retailers including Denver Tattered Cover bookstores.
